"Dan Dare. Pilot of the Future" rose to incredibly popularity in the British boy's magazine "Eagle" in the 1950s and 1960s. Noted for it's intricate and imaginative story lines and highly-detailed, realistic artwork by Frank Hampson and his team of artists, Dan Dare set the standard for science-fiction comic strips, rivaled only by Alex Raymond's "Flash Gordon." Following the demise of "Eagle" magazine in 1969, Dan Dare has continued to appear in various formats (20000AD), including a CGI cartoon version.
Now, with the anticipated release of a live-action Dan Dare movie, Day2Day has secured the world-wide rights to Dan Dare merchandise. The first product to be released will be the Dan Dare 1:6 scale action figure.
